Skate Ministry in Los Angeles

Day after Thanksgiving 2010 skating at the Charmette Bonpua, Culver City and Wilshire Skatepark Downtown Los Angeles.

Skateboarding is a much different sport than when I was young, the skateparks were private enterprises where someone would get the money, engineer the park and charge for entry. That model is antiquated except for the holdouts like Vans that have the marketing reasons for keeping the park open, otherwise all of the parks are goverment run. Staffed to keep the helmets on the kids or if the city does not have the funds to staff the parks then the helmet law is not enforced by the police. Actually the laws state full-pads but even staffed only the helmet is required.

So here I am, 43 year old skater, I have been skateboarding for 38 years. Now I greatly enjoy the sport and love to be around the kids. That’s where the ministry takes place, witnessing for Christ that freedom in Christ is to be used for good, not a covering for evil.

So as time and circumstance permit I am fortunate to have the privilege of getting to be free, to get to skate, to get to be around kids, and to seek out ways to influence them for The Kingdom of God.
